Dr. Lucy is very excited to be the founder of a new independent practice and continue her passion for honest and compassionate pet care. At home, Lucy is a proud parent, keen tandem cyclist, has two rescue chihuahuas and a cat!

Dr. Samantha Howson

Veterinary Surgeon
Dr. Samantha qualified as a vet in 2007 from the Royal Veterinary College, London.
​
She has worked in first opinion practice in New Zealand, Hampshire and Wiltshire.
​
Having settled locally, she loves to spend as much time as possible in the Hampshire countryside, allotmenting, walking, swimming and spending time with her young family and Cocker Spaniel, Dotty.

Melissa Lucas
RVN
Registered Veterinary Nurse
Melissa qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2021 after training at Sparsholt College. As part of the clinical team, she supports the day-to-day care of patients and assists Dr. Lucy during consultations and procedures.

Outside of work, Melissa enjoys staying active, going on long walks with her rescue dog from Cyprus, and caring for her three cats, two of whom are rescues.

Charlotte Wood

Registered Veterinary Nurse
Charlotte has plentiful experience as an RVN across first opinion, hospital, emergency and out-of-hours practices, as well as lecturing within veterinary education.

Charlotte is currently undertaking her Master's Degree in Advanced Veterinary Nursing.
​
In her free time she enjoys paddleboarding, walking with her dog Layla, horse riding and travelling as much as possible.

Peyia House
RVN
Registered Veterinary Nurse
Peyia is passionate about providing high-quality care to both patients and their owners. Her role involves assisting with the care of inpatients and monitoring anaesthesia for a wide variety of patients, helping to ensure their safety and comfort throughout their treatment.

She is also involved in developing weight management and confidence clinics, supporting pets and their owners in achieving healthier lifestyles and creating positive experiences within the veterinary environment.
​
Outside of work, she enjoys reading, baking and walking dogs, reflecting her love of animals both professionally and personally.

Lorna Penny
Receptionist
Lorna is an experienced receptionist, having previously worked in Southampton General
Emergency Department. Lorna finds working with animals much more enjoyable.

She is here to help with any queries, appointments and smooching of animals!

Outside of work, Lorna has a teenage daughter, Maisey, a Golden Retriever, Hazel, and a cat, Molly.
​
Lorna enjoys long dog walks, especially in autumn, spending quality time with her daughter, baking, reading and loves all things Halloween.
Elizabeth
Receptionist
Elizabeth joined the team recently and has quickly become a valued member of Heartwood Vets. Her friendly nature and positive attitude have made her a wonderful addition to the practice.

She has worked as a veterinary receptionist for the past three years and brings over 14 years of receptionist experience, ensuring clients and their pets receive a warm welcome and excellent support from the moment they arrive.
​
Outside of work, Elizabeth enjoys long walks, practising yoga, reading and spending time with her family.
​
At home, she has a mischievous cat called Mitzie, who certainly keeps her on her toes.
